Applewood Smoked Chicken
Today Tami makes Applewood Smoked Chicken in the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. She will make a homemade chicken injection, season and smoke the chicken, then finish it with Chick Dip BBQ Sauce.
Protein Ingredients
- 1 chicken cut in half
- Fat Bastard Chick Dip BBQ Sauce
- Runnin' Wild Poultry seasoning to taste (or your favorite chicken seasoning)
Chicken Injection Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- 1.5 tsp brown sugar
- 1.5 tsp Old Bay garlic & herb seasoning
Recipe Procedure
- Add chicken broth, butter, brown sugar, and Old Bay to a pot over medium heat.
- Heat the mixture until the brown sugar is totally dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool.
- Inject the chicken approximately every 1".
- Apply the Runnin' Wild Poultry Seasoning to both sides of the chicken.
- Place the chicken in the Masterbuilt smoker at 275 degrees F using applewood chips.
- After approximately 1:45 minutes (or when chicken reaches 155) apply the Chick Dip BBQ sauce.
- After 15-20 more minutes apply Chick Dip to the other side.
- Continue cooking the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165F in the thickest part of the breast.
- Remove from the Masterbuilt, let rest for 10 minutes and serve!
